week 1 term 4 reflection

This week was our first week back at school we had an eventful week with having our athletics.

This week for maths we have been working on fractions and percentages and working out bar graphs. We did a lot of work around this and I learnt so much.

We got taught a shortcut around finding out 10% and now it is really easy to find out 10% now.

For writing this week we have been focusing on reports we have to write a report about a planet in our solar system and I have chosen to do Neptune as my planet.

For topic this week we are learning about space and that is why we are also writing about a planet. For topic we have a bunch of activities we need to complete in the time given.

On Thursday we had athletics down at ANZAC park we had to do shot put, discus, long jump, high jump,80m,100m sprints and in these activities we could qualify to go to Grey District Athletics (which is our district).I qualified to go to them in shot put and my discus throws  and I was really close in my long jump.

The eye report

We have been focusing on reports and we have had a choice on one of three body parts me and Cleo decided to do the eye here is our report.

If you know about the eye you will know a lot about this but if you don’t well we are here to tell you about a few things about the eye and what can happen to the eye. The eyes are a pair of globular organs of sight in the head of humans and vertebrate animals. The eyes are made up of different structures and different diseases.

The pupil is a hole that is placed in the centre of the iris. The size of the pupil depends on how much light enters the eye. The pupil appears black because most of the light entering your eye is absorbed by the tissues inside the eye. The pupil is black because because of the light that comes into the pupil. The pupil is either soaked up by the tissues inside the eye or soaked up after diffuse reflections within the eye that mostly miss exiting the narrow pupil. Most adults pupils are 1mm in diameter but some are even less than that.Image result for pupil eye

The iris is in between the cornea and the lens. The iris is bathed in front and behind by a fluid known as aqueous humour. The iris determines what color the eye is. The iris consists of two sheets of smooth muscle and contraction of these muscles control the size of the pupil and determine how much light reaches the sensed tissue of the retina. There are over six different colors of eyes out there in the world like Hazel, Amber, Blue, Brown, Gray and Green. Image result for iris eye

The eyes are vulnerable to many different problems. Some problems that can happen are glaucoma, cataracts and cross eyed. If you have glaucoma you can see but only a circle the rest is pitch black so it would be hard to see the rest around you.Image result for glaucoma

If you have a cataract it means there is clouding in the lens of the eye which affects your vision. Most cataracts are related to aging and are very common in old people. A cataract is when your vision is blurry.
When you are crosseyed you have trouble seeing things in alignment with the other eye so it is hard to concentrate on what you are doing. Usually it happens because of the weakness of the muscles in one or both of your eyes. The weak eye will turn into your nose and away from the object you want to focus on. If you are cross eyed when you are younger it is easier to correct if found early.Image result for cross eyed as a disease

So now you know what can happen to your eyes and why you should be careful with them and keep them safe and your eyes are actually one of the most important parts of your body.
